With the continuous progress of technology, many temperature measurement devices and instruments that use industrial primary lithium-thionyl chloride batteries that operate at normal temperatures (-30-85℃) cannot meet the requirements of high temperatures (100-200℃) and high current output. This creates many inconveniences for users and poses new challenges for the manufacturers of these batteries. Many researchers and technical personnel have continuously attempted to address these challenges, but countless experiments have failed.
There are three main reasons for this:
(1) The main raw materials do not meet the high temperature requirements. For example, regular lithium plates will boil at a high temperature of 185℃;
(2) The separator cannot withstand temperatures of up to 200℃;
(3) Apart from the high temperature of the electrolyte, an N additive is also required.
Currently, Dr. Hu and Engineer Zhu have developed high-temperature batteries, which fills a gap in China's high-temperature lithium battery industry.
These high temperature LiSOCL2 batteries are now being produced in large quantities and are being widely used in various industries such as the petroleum, automotive, geothermal, military, and other industries that require the use of batteries in high-temperature environments. They have been well-applied in testing instruments in oil fields such as North China Oilfield, Shengli Oilfield, Yumen Oilfield, Zhongyuan Oilfield, Xinjiang Oilfield, and Nanyang Oilfield, and have won praise for their excellent performance.
Battery Characteristics: This product belongs to the lithium-thionyl chloride electrochemical system, which consists of a metal lithium negative electrode, a conductive carbon black carrier, thionyl chloride as the positive electrode active material and solvent, a lithium salt as the electrolyte, and special additives; the battery is composed of ultra-fine glass fiber membranes. The battery shell and battery cover materials are made of high-quality stainless steel. The positive electrode is connected using metal/glass sealing technology, and the battery is fully sealed using laser welding technology. At room temperature (20℃----25℃), the storage life can reach more than ten years.
The lithium-thionyl chloride electro chemical system currently has the highest specific energy among all electrochemical systems. It has the following advantages:
(1) High voltage and stable voltage: The rated voltage is 3.6V. The high-temperature load voltage is 3.4-3.6V, and the discharge curve is smooth until near the end of discharge (2.0V), when the curve suddenly changes.
(2) High specific energy: It can reach 600wh/kg.
(3) Wide operating temperature range: High-temperature batteries operate from -20℃ to +125℃, medium-high-temperature batteries operate from -20℃ to +155℃, and high-temperature batteries operate from 125℃ to 180℃. Special designs can reach up to +200℃.
