How long does smart meter battery last
Most smart meter manufacturers promise smart meter batteries will last three to six years, but where does that come from?
Smart water meter in daily use, where the power consumption is mainly in the following areas: Li-SOCL2 battery self-discharge, valve switch power consumption, power consumption card communication, LCD power consumption. At present, the average static current of the smart water meter module is below 3UA, and the total power consumption is about 970mA for 6 years (the current of the valve is about 80mA/9s) . This is only a theoretical value, there is no inestimable problem in it. If the network is under pressure (0.4 mpa) , the on-off valve current usually needs more than 90 Ma. The total capacity of the battery is not the actual usable value, about 80% of the battery capacity. With the use of the late, internal resistance increases, power consumption is also increasing.
The lithium battery with capacity of 2000mAh is used by general manufacturers. The actual usable power is about 1600mAh. According to the quality of water meter and the usage of users, it is a common situation in 3-6 years.
For battery manufacturers, the smart water meter batteries produced by SER mostly use the combination of LiSOCL2 battery and super capacitor, which is due to the low self-discharge and high capacity utilization, and is suitable for high current discharge, working temperature range is relatively wide. The most common are ER14250 + HPC1520, ER26500 + SPC1530, ER18505 + HPC1520, ER34615 + UPC1550
