How to choose NIMH battery and Lithium Battery
NIMH battery is composed of hydrogen ion and metal nickel. NIMH battery has small volume (relatively) , light weight, low self-discharge rate and no pollution to environment, the advantage of no memory effect is widely used in many new mobile devices. The memory effect of ni-mh battery is not very obvious, there is a point, to emergency use, do not have to charge after discharge, usually use is the best after the light is sufficient.
Lithium batteries include non-rechargeable lithium batteries, LiSOCL2 batteries and lithium-manganese dioxide batteries, as well as rechargeable lithium-polymer batteries and lithium-ion battery. A single lithium-polymer battery has three times the voltage of a nickel-metal hydride battery. It has no memory effect and can be charged whenever needed.
Ni-MH Battery and lithium battery differences are as follows:
1. the monomer voltage is different. The lithium-ion battery's voltage is 3.7-4.2 V, while the nimh battery's voltage is only 1.2 v. the capacitance of one lithium-ion battery is equivalent to that of three nimh batteries in series.
2. Charging speed is different. Because of its active nature, lithium ions move quickly inside the battery, so the charging current is larger and the charging speed is faster. A lithium-ion battery can be charged in about three hours Nimh batteries are slow to charge and take about a day to recharge.
3. Different energy densities. The energy density of lithium-ion battery batteries is high, with the energy density of electric vehicle batteries reaching more than 160 wh kg in the first batch of 2019, and that of nickel-metal hydride batteries reaching only 40-70 WH kg. So, at the same volume, the lithium-ion battery is larger than the nimh battery.
4. The memory effect is different. The lithium-ion battery has no memory effect and can be charged whenever you use it, while the nimh battery has a certain memory effect and it is best to keep it full to avoid affecting the battery capacity.
5. The phenomenon of self-discharge is different. Although compared with ni-cd Battery, NI-MH battery self-discharge is not large, but compared with lithium battery can be almost negligible self-discharge, ni-mh battery is simply the king of discharge.
6. The price is different. Lithium-ion batteries are expensive and nickel-metal hydride batteries are cheap.
Ni-mh batteries for mobile phones, laptops and other mobile devices have been gradually replaced by lithium polymer batteries. Lithium batteries should not be stored for a long time, a long time will lose part of the permanent capacity. It is best to charge 40% , stored in a low-temperature refrigerator.
