What is the difference between NIMH battery and Lithium-ion batteries, NIMH and lithium-ion polymer batteries which have long life?NIMH and lithium-ion batteries are common battery types in modern life. While they all power our devices, there are some important differences.
1. What is the difference between a NIMH battery and a lithium battery?
One of the biggest differences is chemical reaction. Nimh batteries use hydrogen and oxygen between the positive and negative electrodes to generate electricity, while lithium-ion batteries use lithium ions and electrons released during charging to generate electricity. In addition, nimh batteries are safer and less likely to overheat or explode, while lithium-ion batteries require strict control of temperature and other conditions to avoid safety problems such as fire.
2. Nimh battery or lithium battery life longer, in normal use, nimh battery life is usually longer than lithium-ion battery. This is because, over time, the battery capacity of the lithium-ion battery decreases, while the capacity of the nimh battery is relatively stable and less prone to significant degradation, making it more durable.
It is important to note that although both lithium polymer battery and NIMH batteries are rechargeable, the charging requirements for lithium-ion polymer batteries are different from those for NIMH batteries. A single rechargeable lithium-ion battery has a voltage of 3.6 V (some cells may be labeled as 3.7 V) . As the battery charge, the lithium-ion polymer battery voltage will gradually increase, which is a sign of whether the lithium-ion battery is full or not, the general manufacturers recommend to stop charging at a voltage of 4.2 V (in the case of a single lithium-ion battery) .
If a friend wants to charge a lithium battery independently, it should be noted that the charging method is different from the constant current charging method used for nickel metal hydride batteries, can not use the charger of ordinary nickel-cadmium nickel-hydrogen battery.
